The nice thing about Japan is that many civilian airfields are also used for military aircraft.
And so many of these airfields have a spotter’s platform, where you have a nice overview of the entire airfield, so here at Misawa.
It is home to the USAF, Japanese Air Self-Defense Forces (JASDF) and civilian airlines. Naval Air Facility (NAF) Misawa is an associate command hosted by the 35th Fighter Wing (FW) of the U.S. Air Force.
NAF Misawa is tasked with providing aviation and ground logistics support and services to all permanent and temporary USN and USMC forces in northern Japan.
