Los Angeles & San Diego March 8, 2020
Los Angeles International Airport
Since we were told at the last minute before departure that our base visit at NAS Fallon was off, we had to change part of our schedule and there was also no reason to take a domestic flight to Reno Airport.
Therefore, it was decided with participants to spend the morning briefly at Los Angeles International Airport before driving on to San Diego to visit the USS Midway.
First we took a seat on the terrace of The Proud Bird, an aviation-related eatery, where you sit close to the approach to runway 25L
Then we drove a little further up to Clutter’s Park to photograph the aircraft in take off.
Here you have plenty of space to park your car and benches are also provided.
USS Midway Museum
Shortly after noon, we then left for San Diego to visit the USS Midway.
This aircraft carrier was converted into a museum after its decommissioning on April 11, 1992, and is the only remaining inactive U.S. aircraft carrier not of the Essex class.
Top Gun Bar
Afterwards, we headed over to Kansas City BBQ to check out the famous cafe from the movie Top Gun.
